Fashion Stimulus: Midnight Blue Sergio Rossi

As most within the fashion blogosphere would agree, there's a fine line between couture and art. Have you ever experienced the appreciation, admiration and awe-factor that bubbles up inside of you at the thought of someone dreaming this beautiful creation up in their mind and making it the sparkling reality before your eyes? Well that my lovelies is when you know you've crossed the line into fashion-art. Not all fashion-art is particularly wearable, but don't we all have those extra special occasions every now and again?  ;)

Where the Vine Meets the Sunshine: Part 2

Our third day in Napa was just as blissful as the first two. We headed out into the sunshine early without any plans at all. We knew we wanted to walk around a massive vineyard, but we didn't know which one. Our plan was to drive around until we spotted something we couldn't resist. (Only in Napa is this kind of activity successful!) What we ended up stumbling upon was a little slice of heaven; or maybe the Garden of Eden. The latter paints a far better picture. It was a HUGE vineyard, potentially never-ending. The hills rolled on for as far as the eye could see. As we hiked walked we came across at least four massive ponds and the sun was shining everywhere you looked.

Knowing that we were going to spend most of the day walking around outside, I opted for an orange sundress from Forever 21. I knew the light fabric would be perfect at keeping me cool throughout the day. I wrapped a brown leather belt around the dress and slipped on my Steven by Steve Madden brown leather sandals. These are my absolute favorite sandals - padded foot-bed, soft brown leather, and polished gold hardware right in the center. I grabbed my Louis Vuitton speedy and we were out to explore wine country once more.

Earlier in the summer, my charming significant other bought these Hermes earrings while he was visiting Paris. He gave them to me on my birthday shortly after. He has such a golden heart. I put them on with this dress because they coordinated perfectly but in reality I just wanted to see him smile.

It seems like we'll be heading to the west coast for yet another mini-excursion at the beginning of next month. I think my handsome partner is antsy to fly again.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Style Encore: The Slip-On Loafer

The slip-on loafer has been gaining steam for years. I remember my friend at Oscar de la Renta rocking these bad boys long before they were main-stream. My initial reaction was "Where's your smoking jacket Hef?", but I couldn't deny their effortlessly cool appeal. I still wasn't ready to shell out $200+ for a glorified pair of slippers.

Fortunately for those of us on a budget, you can now shop these beauties at reasonably priced stores like H&M and Steve Madden. It's really a catch 22 isn't it: the shoe becomes more accessible to the masses but begins to lose it's rarity. A small price to pay in my opinion.

Here are a few of my favorite examples of this eternally-chic trend:

1. Sam Edelman Adena $150 : Buy them here. / 2. Christian Louboutin Rollerball
3. Christian Louboutin Metal Capped Loafer $1,095 : Buy them here. / 4. H&M Slip-on Loaders $19.99
5. Del Toro Embroidered Loafer $195 / 6. Chloe Velvet Slipper / 7. J Crew Darby Silk Loafer $288 : Buy them here.
8. Steve Madden Melter Loafer $129.95 : Buy them here. / 9. Aspinal of London  / 10. Alexander McQueen $595

But admittedly, one of my favorites is a vintage pair from Etsy.com (find them here for $24.00). A flashy brand and big price tag are exciting and glamorous, but sometimes you just can't beat vintage.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. On this side of the pond we visited the Botanical Gardens Christmas lights show. Pictures to come soon!

Sweet dreams blogosphere.

Fashion Stimulus: Pink Velvet McQueen

Never in a million years could I see myself seriously buying a pink, velvet satchel with gold hardware [maybe for a Halloween costume], but this little baby below makes me want to break all of my fashion rules. What I wouldn't give to see this sitting on my shelf.

Should anyone be interested, available for purchase in orange here and black here. I myself appreciate it for the gawk-factor. Though maybe one day in the near future ... fairy godmother anyone? Santa?  ;)

Where the Vine Meets the Sunshine

Back in October my significant other and I took a sudden getaway to Napa Valley. Calling it relaxing doesn't even begin to touch upon the therapeutic nature of Napa. We had a wonderful time.

Our second day there we decided to explore the vineyards and wine cellars on our hotel grounds. The weather was blissfully warm and we were in wine-land after all so I slipped into a purple ruffle dress from Forever 21. Light and breezy. I love the ruffle down the front; makes it playful. I paired the dress with a pair of Nine West espadrilles wedges. I wanted to age the look a bit by wearing brown on my feet. A more colorful choice of shoe would have made the outfit too youthful. We also had dinner plans later that evening so I wanted the look to easily transition into Napa Valley nighttime. I added a few edgy accessories (Italian horn necklace from F21 and Anne Klein studded watch) and we were off to explore in the sunshine!

Day 2 to come tomorrow.

I must admit, looking at these pictures is making me pretty nostalgic. Luckily we took a few bottles of our favorites home with us. Time to sip sweetness and peruse the blogosphere.
